Safe Storage for Breast Milk

🏠 Room Temperature (77°F or colder)

  • Fresh breast milk: Up to 4 hours
  • Thawed breast milk: 1-2 hours

🧊 Refrigerator (40°F or colder)

  • Fresh breast milk: Up to 4 days
  • Thawed breast milk: Up to 24 hours

❄️ Freezer (with separate door, 0°F or colder)

  • Fresh breast milk: Up to 6 months is best, up to 12 months is acceptable
  • Never refreeze thawed breast milk
