Babies wake up at night because they need to. This is healthy and normal for your baby, but it's exhausting for you. For the first few months, most of your sleep will come in short bursts.
These tips won't make your baby sleep through the night, but they can help you rest a little more.
Try to sleep when your baby sleeps, even during the day. Even 90 minutes of rest can help you feel better.
Put your baby's crib or bassinet in your room for the first few months. When your baby wakes up, you won't have to go far.
Use low lighting when you feed, burp, or change your baby at night. This helps you fall back asleep more easily.
Use bright lights only when you need to be fully alert, like when giving medicine.
Taking care of a baby is hard work. If you feel angry or overwhelmed, put your baby down in a safe place and take a break.
Ask a friend or family member to watch your baby, so you can rest.
